FHE Activity

Alex was in charge of our Family Home Evening activity last week. Prompted by an escape of one of the chickens (followed by a successful rescue mission) he determined we would use this time to trim flight feathers. Chickens may not be able to fly but they can make it over a 6 foot fence if their flight feathers are left long.

Bree and Jayden were delighted by all the activity and only wished they could have been more active participants. Brandon took on the task of chicken catcher while Travis was the holder. Alex of course was using the scissors to cut the feathers. Both boys did a great job and Travis was very proud of the fact that the fastest chicken was his white leghorn which he renamed "White Fury" in honor of it's accomplishment. Frederick was in charge of supervising the chickens after the older boys were finished with them. He very happily jumped at them to make sure they could no longer get over the fence. he also followed them around saying "hold" in hopes that one would jump into his outstretched arms (none did).

Ruthann watched for a few minutes and then promptly fell asleep. I of course was given the assignment of baby holder and picture taker. All in all a fun family activity, and the chickens were not too traumatized and are now safely confined.
