Freezing Rain

I finally learned what "freezing rain" is. We now have about 8 inches of snow on the ground. Just enough for lots of fun. Now we are also having "freezing rain" which means that the air up high is warm enough that it is rain falling rather than snow but the air down here (and the ground) is so cold as soon as it touches it freezes into ice. Right now the snow has about 1/3" thick layer of ice on top with another layer of ice under it (from the rain that fell before it turned to snow). With more falling now it will be interesting to see how thick it gets, or if it starts to melt. While this mixture makes driving hard it creates even more fun at home. Brandon and Travis grabbed their sleds and some poles to push themselves around in the yard.
Brandon decided to try to slide like the Polar Bears do to see if he could stay on top of the ice without breaking it. When the dogs came out they went charging out thinking it was just snow and quickly realized it wasn't. Bree managed to slide and bound her way aver to Brandon whom she promptly sat on relieved that she had a place to sit safely which she decided what to do next.
